The Zayed Higher Organisation for People of Determination (ZHO) is taking part in the 32nd edition of the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF), scheduled from May 22nd-28th, at the Abu Dhabi National Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
ZHO’s cultural events and activities vary to benefit visitors of various segments, especially people of determination.
Based on the Comprehensive Strategy for People of Determination in Abu Dhabi 2020-2024, and to reinforce the rights of people of determination with visual disabilities to read, ZHO’s pavilion is seeing the launch of the "Fingers Read" Initiative, which includes 50 editions of various selected stories in Braille for the blind, so as to meet the aspirations of this category in various areas for children and adolescents, in cooperation with publishing houses, Al-Hudhud Publishing, writer Saud Al Sanousi, the Arab House for Science, and writer Wafaa Al Amimi.
ZHO is offering a host of interactive and awareness-raising workshops as part of its activities provided to visitors of various categories, including one entitled "Educational Calligraphy Bag", along with an interactive workshop on music therapy and its impact on people of determination.
The Masha and the Bear puppet show is to be performed on the children stage, in addition to an interactive art workshop entitled "Draw a Story", and another workshop on American sign language.
ZHO is presenting books, publications, and educational pamphlets in Braille, which are produced by the Blind Printing Press of ZHO’s Blind Welfare Department, and a sign language translation service for the deaf visitors for all events and activities to be held within the ADIBF’s schedule and on various stages.
A number of people of determination with hearing disabilities are taking part in ADIBF as volunteers.
