Following a series of both public and private demonstrations in the last few months, local marine autonomy experts MAP Marine Technologies [MAP-Tech] once again present their system, only now suited for the Oil & Gas sector.

The MAP Pro system by MAP-Tech is an autonomous conversion kit that can transform any regular boat into an unmanned surface vessel. The demonstrations held at the Abu Dhabi International Petroleum Exhibition and Conference [ADIPEC] 2017 show a recreational boat, situated at Dubai Creek, that has been outfitted with a MAP Pro device and is begin controlled from the portable command and control station, over 145km away,  at the Exalto Emirates stand at ADIPEC in Abu Dhabi.

“Besides the autopilot function, MAP Pro is a modular system that integrates with 3^rd party equipment, allowing all information and control to be localized by the software at the command and control station. “explains Adnane El Soussi, Director of Robotics at MAP-Tech. “The Oil & Gas industry has several requirements for autonomous control of their vessels, ocean floor surveying, patrol and surveillance of rigs and pipelines, automated transportation of people and equipment to name a few.”
