Lausanne’s thriving nightlife can feel hard to navigate when there are parties all over town, how do you know which suits you best? Lausanne Tourism has mapped out its venues which promise a good time to discerning tourists from the UAE and the rest of the world.
From the dynamic 90s-decade onwards, people have flocked to Lausanne to get a ticket to limitless fun at its notorious clubs. The plethora of bars, discotheques, concert halls, and other music venues are an evidence of the city’s advanced nightlife scene. Its many venues are multigenerational and intercultural. From the age of 18, night owls have dominated the dance floors, moving to Latino beats, techno, dance, and house music, not to mention the festivals and concerts appearing regularly on the annual calendar of events.
Some clubs have acquired a name for themselves beyond the borders of Switzerland, from Paris to Ibiza such as the Mad Club, the creator of Acid House Music. This venue has five floors, each of which has a daily, different scene. The main floor hosts club nights with performances from the likes of David Guetta to Ricardo Villalobos. Tourists can club hop to D! Club, Le Romandie, and the xoxo Club which are other noteworthy, pulsating venues.
The highlight of the city’s nightlife is the newly revived Flon quarter which has become the place to see and be seen. Scattered with trendy restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques, art galleries, hotels, a beach and an ice rink which operates during winter, the destination is a diverse venue which has something to offer for all age groups.
The Director of Lausanne Tourisme, Steeve Pasche said, “The great advantage of nightlife in Lausanne lies in the fact that all these places can be reached on foot and it is easy to go from one to another on the same night. During weekends, public transport companies provide a late-night service called the Pyjama service which offers routes from the centre of Lausanne to over 40 communes in the canton of Vaud to ensure safe commute for travellers and residents.”
