Emirates Park Zoo and Resort, a venue of unique experiences, highlights two of its giant residents, Madu and Rada as a must-meet this month with its one of a kind elephant encounter educational program and feeding session.
Friendly, cheerful and all-together adorable, Madu and Rada are two Indian elephants who are also known as the largest residents of the zoo and Abu Dhabi. The two elephants found its way to the capital following their rescue from being abused in a circus for several years. Now, they spend their days playing, enjoying fruits, expressing normal behavior and sharing many unforgettable moments with the zoo’s visitors.
The Asian elephant’s population has declined majorly due to hunting for tusks, degradation, fragmentation, and habitat loss, listing them as one of the top endangered species in the world. Most noteworthy, Emirates Park Zoo’s is the only zoo in the UAE to house elephants, it is their highest priority to make sure the charming duos get the attention needed to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Zoo visitors are given the opportunity to mingle and feed Madu and Rada with the assistance of enthusiastic elephant keeper who opens the opportunity for each visit to be fun and learning interaction, providing informative background on these mammals throughout the session.
The Zoo Operations Manager of Emirates Park Zoo, Dr. Waleed Sha’aban said, “We are truly blessed to have the opportunity of fostering sweet residents like Madu and Rada. Their progress throughout the years have brought so much joy not just to our visitors, but to their respective zoo keepers as well.
“Protecting the wildlife is our main objective. We are pleased to be a zoo that helps nurture the lives of our animal friends and raise awareness on each species in hopes of eliminating destruction of wildlife,” Sha’aban concluded.
