Short Story of a girl from Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan who had left her homeland in search of livelihood, returns to establish a factory for helping jobless youth, and becomes a successful entrepreneur
Barno closed her eyes and took a deep breath as she landed at the Tashkent airport. She felt the aroma of soil was so lovely. The fragrance, especially of the soil of native land had always been closer to her heart. The sun rising over her homeland also seemed special to her, although only one sun shines over the whole world. But, she thought as if the sun caresses her native people with its rays, looking at them with special smile.
Barno landed at the modern airport crowded with people. Looked around one by one. The words resonated in her native language, sounded very pleasant to her ears. Barno had come back to Uzbekistan for missing her sister and village very much.
Although she wanted to wander through Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, she decided to go directly to Surkhandarya, the most southerly province of Uzbekistan, where she was born. It was a beautiful region that embraces the basins of the Sherabad and Surkhan rivers, right-bank tributaries of the Amu River.
Before leaving for Surkhandarya, she promised herself to return again to Tashkent. Her village was far away. While traveling, Barno remembered the past, leaning his face against the window of the taxi car.
Barno was so beautiful like so many girls of Surkhandarya. Her childhood was very happy. She saw no grief, no worries. But at the age of 17, she lost his father and a year later her mother, who passed away.
She and her sister started living with their old grandmother. Barno’s dream of being student at university also did not come true. The main reason for this was that after finishing from school, she went to work abroad with aunt Robia who was their neighbor and her mother’s closest friend. Her sister was 10 years old and her grandmother was old. Moreover, it was also difficult to find a job. They hadn’t got any relatives who can help. Five years ago she left her homeland with deep sadness in her heart.
She began working with her aunt in a confectionery factory. She worked hard to earn money. It becomes more difficult, if you do not have a person and a home that await you when you return late from work. Sometimes, when Barno came from work, she was weeping remembering her country, village and loved ones. However she would stop weeping, thinking that she would hurt her parents who were looking from the skies. She worked hard and sent a lot of money to her grandmother.
One day, when she was talking to her sister on phone, her sister said that there were many new developments in New Uzbekistan, and youth had different chances to do business. Barno had hope in her heart. She decided to return home. She wanted to live happy in her country.
She remembered her stories of her life. After a long journey, she almost arrived at destination. The taxi entered into the street known to her.
By that time, the night had fallen and the beautiful moon had appeared in the sky. Her sister and grandmother were waiting without sleeping. Barno was so happy to see them. That situation was impossible to describe in words. She hugged her grandma and sister with her heart, not with her hands.
After taking rest for a few days, she decided to begin the work.
“We always support local youth who had a talent,” her grandma and sister told Barno. She decided to create job opportunities for the youth.
Barno established her own confectionery factory in her village and named it ‘Fresh dream’. This name was similar to her life and feelings. She worked hard with resolution that her business flourished and branches of ‘Fresh dream’ factory were opened in a lot of areas of her country. Her factory and her sweets became famous and loved by everyone.
One day, Barno was invited to the forum of youth and students of Uzbekistan. The main reason for this was that she was one of the best business girl of her country.
Now she was no more an unhappy girl who came back to her homeland. She was really happy and successful!
