When we are happy we smile and laugh. Some of us may dance in joy while others may jump excitedly. On the contrary, in times of anger, we cry and lose interest in doing anything and everything. Some people may isolate themselves from society and cut all ties with friends or family members. Human beings vary in their reactions in times of distress and fury. Some abstain from eating while others find their solace in food and comfort their broken souls with sips and bites. Some scream while others stamp their feet in anger. Means of expressing anger and frustration vary from one person to another. However, did we ever think of writing?
Writing is like magic. It is such a healing process. When we write what torments our souls and minds we get off a burden that was shackling us heavily. When we express ourselves on paper we transfer all our feelings away from our souls. Paper is then a bosom friend that listens faithfully without prior judgement or blame. We, on our turn, tell the truth and nothing but the truth without fear of beautifying our words or rephrasing sentences lest someone should be offended!
We can write anything in anytime. We are not bound to time or place. Sometimes when we write we feel relieved of the pain and at times we belittle the problems that we once rendered as grave. There is always someone ready to listen to us. Just take the initiative and write. We can use a piece of paper, journal or a mobile screen. We freely express ourselves.
You don’t have to be a writer to start writing about your feelings. Just write. Do not think. In joy or distress you definitely has something to say. Write to see things clearly. Scribble to discuss vital matters with your mind. From every day’s trivialities to grave life issues, writing is a means of self help and support.
Writing has a healing power and is recommended by many therapists. It is a means of venting. Traumas diminish by exposing them and speaking about the negative feelings.
When you decide to write about your problems just do it. Do not put restrictions. Go with the flow. Do not bother grammatical mistakes or typos. Pay no attention to people’s opinions or evaluation. It is just you and yourself. Cry, shout and object. You are on your own and you are completely free to express yourself.
If you are one of those who rather prefer to be happy inwardly rather than show your smile to the world, write about it. Adorn your pages with words of joy and jubilee. Let your euphoria overflow. Laugh out loud.
Write to survive through thick and thin. Words have wings that take you to a different domain of peace and serenity. A sincere thought can transfer tears into a big smile.
