Why did you choose to present the series Memoirs of a Husband?
The work is suitable for any time, any era, and any language because it is a human and realistic piece. In any marriage, there are pressures and a sense of security. For your information, I could present it again after ten years.
Many years of tragedy and suddenly you present comedy. Don't you see it as an adventure?
It's not an adventure; on the contrary, change is crucial for an artist, especially with the success achieved by previous roles which were complex. So, changing the skin provides the viewer with the pleasure of surprise.
Don't you think the work could have been extended to 30 episodes instead of just 15?
This was the choice of the production company "Aroma Studios" and producer Tamer Morsi, and I believe it achieved its purpose.
With the success of this work, is there any consideration for another part?
Indeed, there is consideration for that, and I am waiting for the concept and how we will present a new vision and events that achieve surprise for the viewer. I am always looking for something new. Since the beginning, I have sought artistic adventures, challenging myself and achieving amazement for the audience through diverse and different roles.
We have seen here a comedic journey of a husband, another adventure among works that rely on rhythm. What is the idea behind this?
It was a collective decision to make the audience watch Raouf's journey. The audience interacted with it, and thankfully, it was successful in creating what screenwriter Mohamed Soliman, director Tamer Nadi, and producer Tamer Morsi wanted. We present a realistic journey to people that makes them laugh and think. I was happy that after the work was aired, I found articles from psychologists: How not to fall into the trap of the wife in Memoirs of a Husband. Here, we present life pressures and his journey as a human.
How do you see the reactions to the work?
I am happy with them. The audience's appreciation for your work always has a magical effect and relieves the effort put into the work and life.
The end of the work and the couple's return to each other, is it a message from you that divorce is not a solution?
The ending is not a solution and not a decision. Here, Raouf discovered himself. Even religion says that marriage is for tranquility, and divorce is the worst thing that can happen to children and the couple.
What are the points of agreement and difference between you and Raouf?
I am not reckless like him; I build my life differently. Even if I find problems, we can overcome them, which is what I learned from my father and mother. What does a person lose by showing gratitude to their life partner? The word "thank you" is useful.
Do you think that marital boredom is due to a lack of understanding between spouses?
Yes, I believe that a lack of understanding between spouses can lead to marital boredom. Initially, a man may be looking for certain needs in a woman, but over time, these needs may change, and there is a need for other things like emotional support, understanding, and good companionship and living together. Even if a woman is beautiful and takes care of her appearance, it may not be enough to maintain a happy and sustainable marital relationship.
Do you think there is a new season outside of the Ramadan season?
In practice, the real drama marathon is still in the month of Ramadan, and being among all these stars means that you are present and competing strongly. Succeeding among the big names has its own flavor, but presenting a work outside of Ramadan has a different kind of success.
Do you miss cinema?
Of course, I miss it, but cinema is an adventure that must be calculated because its only criterion is revenue, unlike drama, which measures its success by viewer interaction and increased advertising with the show. After the success of the movie 122, I had other projects like the movie Party 9, which was not completed for production reasons. However, I have a new project that I will not talk about until the beginning of its filming.
There is an announcement of a second part of "Saedi in the American University", will you participate in it?
I will participate in it honorably because there is no Egyptian producer capable of bringing all the heroes of the first part together in one film, and I am talking here about the stars' fees.
Did you expect the success of "Memoirs of a Husband"?
During filming, we had a degree of anxiety to the point that any conversation between me and the author, Mohamed Suleiman, would end in a quarrel, but with the airing of the first episode and the audience's enthusiasm for it, all this tension disappeared.
How do you adapt to changes in the art world and the emergence of digital broadcasting platforms?
Adapting to changes in the art world is essential for success. I always try to learn about new platforms and modern production methods and strive to present works that suit all tastes and keep up with technological advances.
