“Safety is not a gadget but a state of mind.” How can we define the sense of safety and security? Dictionaries explain the words but do we practically comprehend the concept compared to other feelings that we experience in our lives? Did we ever render safety as a great blessing?! To be safe is to worry about nothing; to lay down in peace, close your eyes without fear and submit yourself to sleep. To be safe is to look forward without looking back and feeling vulnerable. To feel secure in your house and life is a major blessing. If we were ever given a choice to choose one of the numerous blessings God bestowed upon us how many of us would choose to just be safe?! People may ask to be happy, rich, powerful, famous, and intelligent or have a nice spouse and children. Do we really cherish the blessing to be safe and sound?!
When a child cries desperately then beholds the face of his mother or hears the voice of his father he suddenly feels secure and calms down. This is his main source of safety and consequently happiness. This child is in safe hands and nothing else matters to him. The feeling of protection is priceless. When someone loses this sense of security and is confused by fear his/her whole world is shattered. Panic paralyzes one’s performance in life. A scared person is good for nothing. To overcome your fears, you have first to understand where they come from. Fear is either acquired or self-induced. Sometimes you cannot help it. You are so overwhelmed by natural emotions of awe and intimidation. This is either because of external factors that have power over you like natural catastrophes of earthquakes, volcanoes, floods and so on or because of people that have power over you. In times of war, when you are oppressed, you can willingly trade your peace of mind and safety for your own dignity and triumph.
If the cause of fear is out of your hands and you cannot help it so let it be as it is. Take the due measures that help you stay safe. Otherwise, train yourself not to be scared of anything. As long as you did nothing wrong to anyone, you shouldn’t be afraid. Enjoy your peace of mind. Determine to lead a worry free life. Take a deep breath and be content with what you have you will feel safe. Secure your loved ones with a strong bond of care and attention. Appreciate the happy moments of care free and peace.
A peaceful and safe atmosphere in your house or work is utterly priceless. If all what you can give to your friends, children, wife, husband or family members is just a deep sense of comfort that you are there for them and they should not worry as long as you are around, you give them a wonderful gift. Comforting and assuring a person is distress is a heavenly deed. Money can never buy a hearty sleep or a peaceful moment. One can have a glorious mansion, a wealthy bank account, beauty, authority and fame but when deprived of peace of mind all goes in vain. “Out of this nettle, danger, we pluck this flower, safety.” William Shakespeare
