Everything around us is either artificial or natural. Look around and you will find that you are blessed with flowers, fruits and vegetables, blue skies, stunning landscapes and a lot of divine bounties that not only add to the quality of our lives but are also a joy to behold. However, some items are seasonal and we cannot have them all the year round so Man resorted to recreate them artificially. Artificial flowers were soon in vases when natural aromatic flowers are out of season and so did green plants. Artificial sweeteners replaced sugar and gradually with the advance in manufacturing and production more and more objects appeared in the market.

Human body was no exception. At the beginning, prosthetics were a hit and a life saving invention. Victims of accidents, cancers and those who lost a limb or any other body organ were offered an amazing chance to resume a healthy independent life. A new arm or leg were a miracle of science. Later, with the improvement in manufacture and skill of the surgeons, humans opted for more. A whole new facelift was introduced to the world under the name of plastic surgery. Actual facelift was overnight a magical solution to wipe out signs of aging renowned for “wrinkles”. Tummy tucks, nose jobs and acrylic nails were cunningly introduced as new parameters for ideal beauty. 

People started to question their natural looks and ask to change their features in quest for charming alternatives. In no time, a never ending race started. TV models and actors contributed in the change of many concepts. People were no longer happy or satisfied with their hair, nose or lips. Artificial beauty took away our individuality. We became part of the herd. This year’s fashion is thick lips and eyebrows so everyone has to follow. Next year, it is an old fashion and not trendy anymore so they have to switch to a different mode. 

Nevertheless, not all what is artificial is fake or useless. Artificial intelligence is booming to the welfare of humanity. It is an extra hand given by man to himself for his own benefit. Machines, planes, and a lot of applications in our daily life is run by computer programs. With the ongoing sophistications in life, man realized the vital need for help to maintain technology. Robots arrived in factories to reduce human labor and increase efficiency. Surveillance cameras, surgery, computer applications and even driving became much easier. 

On the other side, artificial intelligence invaded some fields that were confined to human mind and creativity like writing and translating. A click can design a story or write a novel. Genuine imagination and breath taking plots are no more solely attributed to a talented writer but rather to ChatGPT; a new term that became part of human life lately. 

Humans were a unique creation with all their potentials and brightness. With the speedy pace of life they invented means of aid that shadowed their intrinsic genuineness and skills. A beautiful face or a witty piece of art is no longer appreciated without posing an urgent question: Is it natural or AI?
