The President of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, welcomed President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi during his visit to the UAE.
Egyptian-Emirati relations are historic and deeply rooted, built upon a legacy of agreement, solidarity, and affection. The UAE always seeks to consult with its brethren for the betterment of our nations and people and to stabilize and develop the region.
Both presidents expressed their appreciation for the strong fraternal ties between Egypt and the UAE, at both the leadership and public levels. These ties manifest in the close coordination between the two countries aimed at supporting the stability of the Arab region, especially during this period where global and regional challenges are intensifying.
Strengthening bilateral relations on various fronts, especially in boosting economic cooperation, joint investments, and trade exchanges, was discussed. Additionally, enhancing cooperation in many developmental fields to serve the interests of the two brotherly peoples was highlighted.
President El-Sisi congratulated the UAE on its achievements in the space field, particularly for its longest mission by an Arab astronaut.
Egyptian-Emirati relations hold a special place in the Arab context due to their historical, civilizational, and cultural dimensions, as well as national and religious significance.
Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, may God rest his soul, captured the essence of this bond when he famously said: "Egypt's renaissance is the renaissance of the Arabs. I have advised my sons always to stand by Egypt because that is the path to the Arab renaissance. Egypt is the heart of the Arab region, and the Arab region without it loses life."
This principle has governed the relations between the two countries, despite the many changes that have occurred both domestically and globally.
The two nations have enjoyed solid political relations since before the formation of the UAE union, strengthened by the supportive positions of both countries towards each other.
Several historical milestones reinforced the ties between the two countries, including the Emirati support for Egypt after the 1956 aggression, the setback of 1967, the 1973 war, and leading up to the June 30th revolution in 2013, where the UAE provided immense support to Egypt on all fronts.
The late Egyptian President, Gamal Abdel Nasser, was a staunch supporter of the UAE's union and sent Egyptian teachers, engineers, and doctors to assist. Egyptian models were present during the establishment of the union. After Abdel Nasser's passing, the Egyptian state, led by the late President Anwar Sadat, supported the declaration of the UAE's union in 1971.
The Egyptian President visited the United Arab Emirates, followed by the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan's reciprocal visit to Cairo, where he presented the Al Nahyan Medal to President Sadat.
The Emirati market is the primary destination for Egyptian exports, annually receiving around 11% of Egypt's total global exports.
