When someone is oppressed by another person he/she stands helpless and in distress. He can feel weak, wronged and as much as he is filled with humiliation he is filled with hate towards the person who did this to him. He looks around in despair hoping that there are any witnesses to his calamity. He longs for someone to approach and defend him.
Helpless as he is he awaits any aid or rescue. This third part can either be on the side of the culprit supporting him in his action and accepting all what he did or he can be sympathizing with the victim. After the sentimental stance an actual action must be taken. The supporters can applaud, praise or fund and so does those who are on the opposite side. A fierce ethical or social battle starts and each defends himself. Sometimes the situation needs a third party to judge and sometimes the truth is as obvious as sunlight.
In this case of utter rightness, an action must be taken. Speaking up the truth and supporting it by all means is an active method. Sometimes the oppressed or the wronged cannot fully express himself or present his case due to lack of effective means or power. Nowadays, with the amazing role that technology is playing in our modern life, there is a lot that can be done. Spreading the truth, explaining the viewpoint and the claims of the weak party are means of support. Delivering his message to “whom it may concern” is an important action.
Taking a step further might necessitate another practical reaction like disentanglement or boycott. Such actions represent a pressure on the oppressor to step back or stop what he is doing to others. When you are angry with someone, you refrain from speaking, dealing or interacting with him let alone trading. Economic boycott has always been a peaceful way to express anger and refusal. It is the least anyone can do to curb the assault and drain the financial support that is misused by any hostile power on all levels. Objecting through words only is not effective on a larger scale. Some peaceful procedures are needed as well.
Emotional support and caring are needed badly. They are the fuel any victim or oppressed can get to help him endure his calamity. Solidarity is a human trait. When we stand together and feel for each other, we will survive and overcome all hardships.
