I have been, and continue to be, a proponent of what I termed the "One in a Million Club." The concept is simple: our beloved Egypt's population has exceeded one hundred million by several millions. Still, let's limit ourselves to one hundred million. The idea is to select one creative individual from every million in each field, meaning that we would have one hundred people in every field and specialty (science, literature, thought, art, discoveries and inventions, environment, technology, agriculture, industry, astronomy, marine science...etc.) in the "One in a Million Club." These one hundred are the members of the club. The focus is on them, assisting them, creating the right environment for them, paving the way for them, and providing the necessary resources for their creativity. If we imagine that this number joins the club every year, or even every two years, we will have geniuses in every field that elevate us and match our ambitions in our new republic.
This dream of forming a "One in a Million Club" is practically what happened and is happening in the Ministry of Youth and Sports when it held an annual festival under the title "Creativity," under the auspices of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi, President of the Arab Republic of Egypt. I was pleased when I had the opportunity to attend the closing ceremony of the eleventh season of the "Creativity" festival in the literary, scientific, and artistic fields for students of universities, higher institutes, government and private academies. I was astounded by this performance and creativity, by this flow, this sophistication, these creative energies flowing in various fields.
During my follow-up to the segments of the closing ceremony held in the grand celebrations hall of Cairo University, the most ancient university in the Middle East, where students create on its stage - a stage on which world presidents and kings have stood, and where the Eastern star Umm Kulthum shined - I remembered our migratory birds, or our birds attracted from abroad. I always feel a bit sad when I see them leave Egypt, or when I see them being honored abroad as if they are creating a new history with our children. But after what I witnessed at this closing ceremony, I found myself whispering, "And we have more." Yes.. We have creative energies in various fields, like a river flowing with them, a continually overflowing river. All that is needed is to provide them with the opportunity and then nurture them. This is something largely done by the "Creativity" festival of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, led by the young minister with a youthful smile and heart, where he allocated incentive amounts as prizes exceeding five million Egyptian pounds, with a team of organizational and judging talents about whom and their distinguished capabilities in every field we do not have space to talk.
I attended the closing ceremony among a galaxy of stars of thought, art, and literature. I had the honor of accompanying the venerable artist Mahmoud El-Hadini, the great writer Mohamed Aboul-Ela El-Salamoni, and stars such as Mohamed Riad, Fathy Abdel Wahab, Sameh Hussein, Safaa Abou El-Saoud, Manal Salama and many others, in addition to a number of politicians and administrators alongside the Minister of Youth and Sports. The age groups (18 - 27) were students of government and private universities, students of government and private higher institutes, and students of government and private academies. As for the competition fields in the "Creativity" festival, there were fourteen fields as follows: "Poetry, Novel, Short Story, Playwriting, Ideal Student, Cultural League, Group and Solo Singing, Group and Solo Instrumental, Religious Chanting and Hymns, Theatrical Performances, Musical and Dance Theater, Folk Art, Short Films, The Correspondent, Fine Arts, Scientific Innovations, Community Initiatives." The prizes ranged from the first to the third place in each field. As a result, the festival produced dozens and dozens of creators. Those who actually won and those who were not fortunate enough to find themselves in the honor positions but possess a lot of creative abilities. I smiled again and my heart was reassured as I recalled my whisper to myself, "And we have more."
