On my way home from work yesterday, I was driving on a highway. I noticed a local dog trying to cross a five-lane road. By the time I saw him, he had already crossed three lanes and stood in the middle of the road, stepping two steps forward at times, then back three steps at other times. He repeated this thrice in a scene foretelling impending doom.
Quickly, I glimpsed at the road behind me in the mirror, used the hazard signal, then maneuvered my lane at an angle to force the cars behind me to slow down and take caution, in an attempt to give the dog a few seconds to survive and return to the road's median to try again to cross the remaining lanes.
Fortunately, I succeeded. Three lanes stopped and the poor creature had a chance to catch its breath.
I thank my son who taught me a fact about dogs that saved this little one's life. He said that the biggest cause of death for dogs is accidents, as they, by nature, do not know how to change their course backward. This is exactly what I saw in the stunning hesitation of the miserable dog and its true confusion in very delicate moments that could have cost its life.
Although as humans we do not possess this degree of hesitation and inability to change our courses backward, the vast majority of us still knock on the same old closed doors each time instead of learning to search for successful upright doors.
Fixing any mistake you've made is not just about repairing what you've messed up; it's also about using your mind to take three steps back to figure out where you could have stopped that path.
Most people don't realize that fear of suffering is worse than suffering itself. When you stand still and do not move forward, you are suffering even if you don't feel it.
Out of God's mercy for humans, He blessed us with the gift of reason. This heavy part of our bodies is often neglected by many people who fail to use it wisely and efficiently.
Dale Carnegie says, "Our thoughts make us, and our mental attitude is the primary factor in determining our destinies."
The dog was forced to do what it did, its behavior was in line with the way God created it.
However, as we possess the miracle of the mind atop our shoulders, we should have behaved differently, leading me to believe that stupidity will always remain a personal talent for some humans.
Paulo Coelho says, "Nothing in the world is ever completely wrong. Even a stopped clock is right twice a day."
Well then, stop. Is it enough for you to be right for just two seconds each day? Some people see it as normal, but I see it as a clear loss.
God has granted us a tremendous flexibility to retreat from error and correct it, then granted us infinite capacity to learn and gain experiences. However, we stand in the same median of our world, neither retreating, nor completing, nor taking any measures that enable us to live a quality life.
What a mental deficiency and insufficiency is it to make a person incapable of developing, learning, and advancing in his life.
Those who take the first step reside in the houses of struggle. Every day of their lives, they mend the traces of failure and replace them with devastating construction tools. Success to them is an intertwined chain of daily strenuous work.
You wouldn't have become this person if you didn't abandon a lot of your worldly pleasures for the sake of being a person pointed to with respect.
Indeed, my friend, success is very costly. Do not believe anyone who made it easily!
Ascend your mind to dispel your disappointments; the view from above is the proper scene.
Your fear of failure will always be your safe path to success. Make them see success in your eyes, do not hesitate and stand helpless, you are not a tree!
God has given you all the exceptional capabilities to become an unmatched copy of anyone, move, advance and contemplate well where you put your feet.
I see no challenge in the world that shields you from its scorching heat, except to move from the spectators' platform to the players' field.
Angels are compelled to obedience, as Satan knows his burning fate, but we live the real challenge, as we truly own our destinies.
Take hold of whatever you want, only an iron will with which you adorn your perception of yourself will benefit you. Everyone sees you as you see yourself from the inside. You are not the hidden timid one but the clear evident one.
We can change our destinies as soon as we realize our ability to change our paths backwards or forwards.
Sometimes the opposite direction is the most significant change you need in your life, behind closed doors lie a lot of lives.
Your success is the number of steps you've taken strongly in the right direction, whether it was for years or a lifetime.
Success and failure meet inside our bodies, it all depends, my friend, on that moment when you make your decision to walk in the right direction.
Luck and destiny play a marginal role in life, everything always depends on your effort, patience, and faith in the inevitability of arrival.
Otherwise, build yourself a house on the median of a road you will never leave.
