The Egyptian artist Amir Wahib is an almost unique character with a special world in drawing, design and ideas. His journey in and outside Egypt - and what is between them – is glorious. I went to meet him in his studio to be my guest for a short interview, but the session was interesting and he talked about everything. Egypt and the art were at the heart of all the letters in this Arabic video.
Who is Amir Wahib?
Amir Wahib is an international visual artist and writer, born in Cairo on June 15, 1969. He reached the station of world famous painters in a journey that took 30 years, starting with his graduation from the Faculty of Fine Arts in 1993 - the “Interior Architecture” department - with his first participation in his first group exhibition as a " furniture designer " based on his studies, and in parallel with his participation as an exceptionally gifted " painter ", he draws with his both hands.
He can also draw a portrait of a person through a very small number of lines in the range of 12 to 17 lines , as shown in through the paintings attached , the first painting is the palm of his " Left " hand drawn with his right hand , the second painting is the fist of his " Right " hand drawn with his left hand , and the third Art Work is my portrait . I called him a “magic artist”.
With his first solo exhibition in 1995, the Egyptian and foreign media in Egypt were interested to writes about his highly distinguished work. He received an invitation to participate with his paintings from a reputable gallery in New York on September 19 , 2001, which mean , a week after 9/11 (attached is the invitation cooy).
After the artist arrived in New York , he resided there for many years , and held several exhibitions. His paintings were on show in the windows of major art galleries. * However, the exhibition " Architectural Insights " in the New York Public Library for a show of 4 months was the main reason to let him well known , as the library displays only a new and unprecedented subject , in addition to a very a high fees.
He became officially one of the famous artists in New York City because of an unprecedented exhibition also entitled “ Clocks of New York City ”, which is about Public Clocks and Buildings carry Clocks , and in order to achieve this exhibition , the artist walked 8 hours a day for 10 weeks until he finished all the streets of New York searching Clocks and after he counted all the Clocks that exceed 100.
He chooses just 21 Clocks to paint and it took 11 months to paint them. This exhibition was written about it by the New York Times, and some magazines put paintings on the cover.
The artist writes in 4 languages , and the first article that was officially published in an Italian magazine in the Italian language was in 2003 , the year of the Egyptian-Italian friendship, and it was titled “ Our friendship is eternal , not only this year.”
The artist won the American Award of " B.I.D. " Business Initiative Directii ) in the gold category for an innovative and unprecedented “ rocking chair ” that moves in the horizontal direction and not as it is known in the longitudinal direction. * The artist held a solo exhibition in Rome in March 2001, and IL Tempo newspaper, IL Corriere Di Roma and L' Acccademico magazine wrote about his Art till present. His Art and bios are published in many countries world - wide.
