It has been a busy year, thanks to getting back to my favorite action of travel. In April 2022, I was in
Togo for giving a paper on African Literature and Environment, in the country’s first
literature symposium, hosted by the University of Lomé, and organized by the Togolese
Writers Union.
In June, I was invited to give the Keynote Speech of the African Literature Conference,
Ibadan, Nigeria. This was on the 60 th Anniversary of the first literature conference held in
Ghana, Makerere University.
In September, I travelled to Baku, Azerbaijan, for my book translation launching ceremony
in the Russian House, in the capital of this central Asian nation. My book of poems “A Street
in Cairo”, was translated by great poet Eldar Akhadov who introduced me to fans of poetry. I
had the chance to go around with him, and be hosted in marvelous places with wonderful
friends. The LIFFT Gold version of this translation has been published in Moscow, it is a
version devoted for the winners of the Gold Medal in the Literary Eurasian Festival of
Festivals held in Istanbul. I will receive this special book in the VI edition of the festival to be
held in Cairo, during its International Book Fair Jan-Feb. 2023.
In November 2022, I travelled to the Republic of Korea to attend Busan Expo 2030 Forum
for Foreign Journalists, and celebrate Asia Journalist Association 11th Anniversary, and
give 2022 AJA Award to actor Park Hae-il, Seoul. I also gave him my novel “A Backyard
Garden” translated into English, explaining why it does cross some of his movies, after
watching his long one “A Decision to Leave”.
Starting in January 2022, I joined online poetry festivals, meetings and forums, from Asia,
Europe, Latin and Central America to Africa. I had interviews on my travels for Egyptian TV
Channels, I also was the guest of the Russian House in Alexandria to talk about Ibn
Fadhlan on his 1100th anniversary to visit Bulgar on the Volga in Tatarstan which marks
the acceptance of Islam in Russia. I was also a jury member of PAWA Africa Poetry Award.
Regarding books, by chance, I discovered that my book of my travels to Morocco has been
translated into Spanish in Granada University. I translated the book of the great Russian
poetess Alexandra Ochirova, which would be introduced in Cairo International Book Fair,
and the Russian Literature Day in the Russian House, Cairo, on January 29, 2023. My
travel to Vietnam appeared in a Travelogue Anthology book published in India.
The latest edition of the Silk Road Anthology devoted to Nano Poems for Africa will be
completed today (December 31, 2022 ) with almost 140 poets from 30 countries. Last
edition of the Anthology published in 2022 was devoted to Arabian Nights in 888 pages,
contributed by 155 poets from 40 countries in more than 20 languages.
I also was honored by two medals; the first came from Pan African Writers Association
(PAWA) in Ibadan, Nigeria, while the second was carried to home by iconic writers, poet
and translator from Kazakhstan; Bakhyt Rustomove on behalf of the International
Commonwealth of People's Diplomacy (ISND). Many certificates were also sent to me via
emails, concluded with the International Outstanding Poet Awards announced in the 9th
China Poetry Festival organized by Hubei Provincial Literature Federation and conducted
by Hubei Yujiaolong Media for the Magazine of Modern and Ancient Literature on
December 29, 2022.
