Due to high demand, the unique, interactive show, As Far As Isolation Goes by Tania El Khoury and Basel Zaraa has been extended through to October 4, 2020 at The Arts Center at NYU Abu Dhabi (NYUAD).
Created by live artist Tania El Khoury in collaboration with musician and street artist Basel Zaraa, As Far As Isolation Goes is performed via Zoom for a single audience member at a time. The show runs daily from 4-6pm and 7:30-9:30pm. To accompany the show, on Tuesday September 29, The NYUAD Institute will host a conversation with Tania El Khoury moderated by Associate Arts Professor of Theater and Program Head of Theater at NYUAD Joanna Settle, on El Khoury’s latest works.
Through a dynamic journey of touch, sound, and audience interactivity the performance is an intimate one-to-one experience that forces the audience to engage with the inhumanities faced by refugees in detention centers and their experiences with a mental health system that disregards their political and emotional contexts.
Executive Artistic Director of The Arts Center Bill Bragin commented: “Tania and Basel’s work truly embraces the challenge of working in a virtual setting to create a powerful and important experience. We are excited to see audiences responding so positively, and coming away really touched by the intimacy of this interactive performance. To be able add to these weeks of programs underlines The Arts Center‘s purpose - to spark important conversations within the community, while exploring new forms of meaningful and moving performances.”
