Sought out for its authentic and tempting Italian cuisine, from its famous truffles pizza to the rich lobster soup, the award-winning Tuscan style restaurant Villa Toscana celebrates a different aspect of Tuscany – the region in central Italy - every month at The St. Regis Abu Dhabi; whether it’s an individual ingredient or a local tradition that represents its rich culture.
This March, experience the finest meat cuts from lamb, beef and chicken at the Buttero Festival, a celebration from the Maremma region, honouring the cowboys of Tuscany who steered their herds of cattle and sheep across the land in search of greener pastures. In between travelling by horseback, from sunrise to sunset, they made their meals from hunks of bread, chicory and beef. Butteri are still present in the memory of older Tuscans and in folk celebrations and on the day of Sant'Antonio Abate – the day for the benediction of the animals -, they parade in the centers of Tarquinia, Tuscania, Marta and Valentano.
Chef Stefano Viola, Chef Rosario Martorana and the Villa Toscana family invite you to discover this savoury heritage of Italy from 15th until 24th March. While diners will be able to pick out their preferred cut from the display and let it then authentically prepared on a live grill, sharing platters will also be available.
About Villa Toscana
The restaurant’s design, inspired by a Tuscan villa, creates the feel of visiting the home of an Italian noble at his summer residence where family and friends meet welcomed by the chef-patron.
The food complements the design bridging tradition and elegance. Serving hand-crafted, regional Italian specialties from Tuscany, Umbria, and Emilia-Romagna, the menu is composed to orchestrate specialties of these areas. Special imports of cheese, prosciutto, cold cuts, and salamis emphasize the quality level of the restaurant. All pasta is made in-house with raw ingredients sourced freshly from Italy. The menu will change several times a year. This enables the Chef Stefano Viola to utilize produce on its seasonal peak ensuring the dishes develop and preserve the utmost aroma and bring flavor to their palatable peak.
