WETEX 2024 to spotlight latest cybersecurity technologies, trends

The 26th Water, Energy, Technology and Environment Exhibition (WETEX) will see significant participation from companies specialising in digital transformation, cybersecurity, and networks and information system security. This is alongside major local and international companies specialising in energy, sustainability, water, green buildings, smart grids, electric vehicles, and more.

Under the directives of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA) is organising WETEX from 1st to 3rd October, 2024, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

“After more than a quarter of a century since its launch, WETEX has become an ideal platform to showcase the latest technologies in global trends and areas that contribute to shaping a more sustainable, prosperous, and secure future. WETEX supports the UAE’s leading position in cybersecurity. The UAE ranked fifth in the Global Cybersecurity Index (GCI) 2021, issued by the UN’s International Telecommunication Union (ITU). In line with the Dubai Cyber Security Strategy and the technological advancements in Dubai and globally, WETEX addresses the growing need for all aspects of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) practices. WETEX also stimulates innovation in cyberspace, facilitates the exchange of expertise related to providing integrated and proactive protection against cybersecurity risks, and supports efforts to secure digital infrastructure. It enhances safe digital transformation and increases the readiness of public and private organisations and individuals to tackle challenges arising from the widespread use of smart and digital technologies, which are key pillars across various sectors. The exhibition promotes the development of ways to address cyber threats and risks facing smart cities. WETEX also fosters a cybersecurity culture, encouraging everyone to take responsibility for achieving a safer cyber world,” said Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, Managing Director and CEO of DEWA, and Founder and Chairman of WETEX.

WETEX 2024 will feature the latest technologies, systems, and programmes related to artificial intelligence (AI) governance, cyber risk prediction, cyber breach methods and techniques, and testing information systems and networks for vulnerabilities and security gaps before they can be exploited by hackers. It will also showcase best practices for securing information and network systems, enhancing incident response capabilities around the clock, and protecting personal data by integrating security solutions into the design of smart cities.

Top showcases during the event include Siemens' solutions in smart grid technologies, improving the efficient and sustainable distribution of power; Hitachi Energy's contributions to sustainability and the UAE’s 2050 Net Zero Initiative; SAP's AI-driven solutions like the Green Ledger; Larsen & Toubro's innovations in renewable energy, power transmission, and digital energy solutions; Hayat Communications's collaboration with DEWA to enhance digital infrastructure and renewable energy solutions; and Avanceon's data-driven technologies and ML/AI-based modelling for the energy sector.
