The leaders of Tajikistan and Qatar discussed in Doha the possibility of launching joint transport and transit projects to strengthen logistical connections between the two countries, Avesta reports.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the Emir of the State of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, expressed the opinion on the need to simplify cargo and passenger transportation, as well as transit to other countries.
To achieve this goal, it was proposed to launch joint transport and transit projects. On January 22, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, speaking at a meeting with business circles, investors, and companies from the State of Qatar, also touched upon the topic of cooperation in the field of transportation.
“In Tajikistan, necessary measures are constantly being taken to improve the country’s transportation infrastructure. Four out of six transport corridors of the Program of Regional Economic Cooperation in Central Asia (CAREC) pass through the territory of Tajikistan. Therefore, the use of Tajikistan’s territory for transporting goods from China to the countries of Central and South Asia reduces the delivery time and distance from 1200 to 2000 kilometers.
Tajikistan ranks 50th in the world in terms of the quality of roads. We also welcome proposals from investors related to the creation of logistics centers,” emphasized Emomali Rahmon.
President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon made a state visit to Qatar on January 21-22 of this year.
