Malta to serve as headquarters for the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace

The Chairman of the Constituent Council of the Global Council for Tolerance and Peace (GCTP) Ahmed bin Mohammed Al-Jarwan, together with an accompanying delegation, paid a working visit to Malta to formally register the distinct interest of his newly founded organization to establish its headquarters in Malta.  Amongst the foremost objectives of the GCTP is to serve the purposes of building international partnerships, to instil values of tolerance and culture, reject extremism, promote preventive diplomacy, and to support regional and international youth initiatives. It also aims to launch in the short term a major international award to contribute to the protection of international peace. During the talks, reference was made to the Memorandum of Understanding signed earlier on 14th June 2017 between the GCTP and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), and to the ongoing cooperation with the United Nations, particularly on actions in support of young people to embark on projects that uphold the value of tolerance in their research and studies
