UAE sends 172 tonnes of Ramadan baskets, 500 relief bags to Chad

The UAE today sent its fifth plane carrying more than 36 tonnes of humanitarian aid and supplies to the Republic of Chad, bringing the total aid during the holy month of Ramadan to nearly 172 tonnes containing more than 6,000 Ramadan baskets.

This comes within the Ramadan programme, which is supervised by the Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, and targets poor and needy families of Sudanese refugees in Chad, as well as the people of Amdjarass and the surrounding towns.

The Ramadan baskets included a number of basic food items, including dates, rice, flour, sugar, oils, grains, baby milk, and other essential needs for needy families during the holy month of Ramadan.

In the same context, Amdjarass Airport received an Emirati plane carrying about 20 tonnes - 500 - relief bags containing livelihood materials and humanitarian supplies provided by the Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable & Humanitarian Foundation, with the aim of alleviating the suffering of poor families during Ramadan.

The Emirati humanitarian team, in cooperation with the local authority in the city, continues to distribute Ramadan baskets to poor, needy, displaced and impoverished families, bringing the number of beneficiaries of this project to more than 6,000 poor families in all neighbourhoods of Amdjarass city and the surrounding towns.

The dispatch of these relief convoys comes in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadan, as part of the UAE's efforts and interest in all different occasions, in addition to the continuous receiving of patients and the elderly from poor families by the field hospital.

Beneficiaries extended thanks to the UAE for its efforts in the continuous relief process for the city's residents.

It is worth noting that the Emirati humanitarian team includes the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC), the Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, and the Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan Foundation, and works in cooperation with the UAE Aid Coordination Office in Chad.
