Shankar Lalwani, Sindhi Member of Indian Lok Sabha, bestowed with World Record Award

World Book of Records, London invites Shankar Lalwani, the only Sindhi member of Lok Sabha to attend and receive the World Record Award for being elected in Lok Sabha election 2024 with a record margin of 11, 75, 092 votes

The World Book of Records, London has invited Mr. Shankar Lalwani, the only Sindhi member of Lok Sabha (Lower House of Indian Parliament) to attend and receive the World Record Award for being elected in Lok Sabha election 2024 with a record margin of 11, 75, 092 votes in a contest. The Award Distribution Ceremony will be held at British Parliament in London on July 18, 2024.

World Book of Records is an international organization and its primary objective is to promote people to make records and others to annihilate the same. It also honors the people, organizations and institutions who have excelled in their respective fields and have been beneficial to humanity at large.

World Book of Records - Letter- Sindh Courier

In a letter dated June 11, 2024, addressed to Mr. Shankar Lalwani, the management of World Book Records, stated that ‘it would like to invite you to the ceremony and bestow with World Record Award for being elected in India’s Lok Sabha Election 2024 with record margin of 11, 75, 092 votes.’

Shankar Lalwani son of Jamnadas Lalwani, born on 16 October 1961, is an Indian politician and member of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Lalwani has served as a Member of Parliament in the 17th Lok Sabha from Indore since 2019. He also held previously the position of chairman in Indore Development Authority.

Shankar Lalwani is a Sindhi whose family migrated from Shahdadkot Sindh Pakistan after the Partition of India. Lalwani completed his Higher Secondary from Madhya Pradesh Board in 1978. He graduated with a B. Tech degree from Veermata Jijabai Technological Institute affiliated to University of Bombay.

He is one of the few politicians to have polled more than 10 lakh votes in a Lok Sabha election, having breached the barrier in May 2019. He polled more votes in 2019 than any other Lok Sabha member. His winning margin was half a million, with many candidates winning with higher margins than that, especially in Gujarat.

During 1999 – 2004, he was Chairman, PWD, Municipal Corporation of Indore; during the period 2004 – 2009, he served as Chairperson, Municipal Corporation of Indore and during 2013 – 2018 he was Chairperson, Indore Development Authority. From September 2019 till date he is Member, Standing Committee on Urban Development.
