5.9-magnitude earthquake hits Kamchatka coast, Russia

An earthquake measuring 5.9 on the Richter scale struck off the coast of Kamchatka, eastern Russia.

The Geophysical Centre of the Russian Academy of Sciences stated that the earthquake occurred in the Pacific Ocean off the eastern coast of Kamchatka, 87 kilometers from the village of Ust-Kamchatsk.

The Centre indicated that the depth of the epicentre of the earthquake was 52 kilometers below the seabed.

The Centre confirmed that there were no injuries or damages.
