Behind every award-winning restaurant is a leader who makes it all happen. For the kitchens of Leopold’s of London Abu Dhabi, Chef Rustono Darmo is the main man.
“Being a chef is always a challenge,” said Rustono Darmo. Head Chef and one of the early team members of Leopold’s of London Abu Dhabi, Darmo is known for his creative excellence that is complimented by his operational prowess in his management of the kitchens based in the capital.
A passion that grew fonder as he spent his early days in Philippines’ finest luxury hotels and restaurants, Darmo knew that his love for food would open an array of opportunities for him. In 2005, he took the courageous step of taking his culinary journey to the cities of the United Arab Emirates where his skills were honed throughout years of hard work – starting out as a commis in renowned dining venues in town and eventually making his way as a head chef. Among his notable developments were with Executive Chef Tom Arnel, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Bull and Roo, who taught him the value of perfection in the craft.
With more than nine years of culinary experience under his belt, Darmo has led the team of gastronomic artisans in Leopold’s of London Abu Dhabi with the creations of new culinary experiences for guests. Much of his works are celebrated not only for its taste, but also for its unique presentation.
“The job of a Head Chef is never the same. Each day brings a new experience that keeps the creativity and the desire to learn more flowing within our team,” said Darmo.
Since its inception, Leopold’s of London Abu Dhabi has gained recognitions and accolades among different award-giving organizations, and has widen its scope by building new branches around the city.
