Ajman Ruler calls for greater community awareness of endowments in emirate

H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, has called for strengthening the public’s awareness of endowments and their role in achieving sustainable development in the community, therefore, contributing to the launch of new endowment projects and initiatives in the emirate.

Sheikh Humaid also directed those concerned to study the social impact of endowments in the emirate, due to its humanitarian and social significance, stating, “Endowments play a historic role in achieving social solidarity and supporting humanitarian and charitable efforts, and are key to achieving development that will benefit various segments of society.”

He made this statement while reviewing, along with H.H. Sheikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman and Chairman of Ajman Executive Council, the results of the report, titled, “Endowments in the Emirate of Ajman for 2023”, which was prepared by the Ajman Statistics Centre, in collaboration with relevant authorities.

The report showed that the total number of endowments in Ajman reached 222 real estate and non-real estate endowments with a total value of AED1.989 billion, across 166 contributors. Some 94 percent of endowment returns went to endowment institutions, such as mosque affairs, general welfare, and education.

The report mentioned that 79 percent of endowments are managed by endowment-related entities, reflecting the community’s trust in them.

While reviewing the report, Sheikh Humaid said, “Reports like these, with statistics on the number, types, values, and uses of endowments, enable making appropriate decisions regarding endowment affairs, and the development and implementation of sustainable community development plans, in addition to drafting strategies for new endowment projects in the emirate.”

Sheikh Ammar affirmed that Ajman is keen to promote endowment and charitable projects in the emirate through the efforts of all relevant entities in implementing Sheikh Humaid's directives to improve the quality of life and provide a stable living environment for the emirate’s citizens and residents.

Sheikh Ammar called for continuous efforts to develop endowments in the emirate towards sustainable endowment and encouraged individuals and institutions in the community to participate in endowment initiatives.
