Tajikistan trades with 120 countries around world

A delegation from Tajikistan participated in the official opening ceremony of the 13th Ministerial Conference of World Trade Organization

A delegation from Tajikistan, led by the Minister of Economic Development and Trade, Zavkizoda Zavki Amin, participated in the official opening ceremony of the 13th Ministerial Conference of World Trade Organization (WTO) member countries in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Avesta reports.

The Minister, on behalf of the Government of Tajikistan, expressed gratitude to the organizer of the conference, the United Arab Emirates, highlighting the country’s achievements during its membership in the organization. He also emphasized Tajikistan’s position on the global trade situation, especially WTO reform and the improvement of the multilateral trading system.

He noted that as a result of measures taken from 2013 to 2023, during the country’s WTO membership, Tajikistan achieved significant success, ensuring an average economic growth rate of 7.2% and increasing the number of trading partners to 120 countries.

The government of the country has identified strengthening export potential, diversification of exports, and simplifying trade procedures as priority areas of the country’s economic policy in the field of trade.

During the conference, ministers of participating countries mainly discussed issues related to WTO reform and dispute resolution, agriculture and food security, fisheries subsidies, trade, and environmental sustainability, as well as the approval of the investment facilitation agreement and the work program of the Electronic Commerce Organization.

It is worth noting that the WTO Ministerial Conference is the highest decision-making body that considers and adopts important decisions related to global trade. According to WTO provisions, this event is held every two years.
