National Library and Archives organises media forum on sidelines of Cairo International Book Fair

The National Library and Archives (NLA) held a media forum during the Cairo International Book Fair 2024 to present its new institutional identity and highlight its projects and initiatives aimed at preserving the country's cultural heritage, including the Encyclopedia of the UAE History project and the publication of Al Maqta's quarterly magazine.

Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director-General of NLA, highlighted the commitment to actively participate in the Cairo International Book Fair as a valuable opportunity to enhance relations with cultural institutions in Egypt, a renowned hub for intellectual discourse.

Al Ali said that the Founder Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan established the National Library and Archives in 1968 to document the UAE's history and heritage. The institution has since focused on preserving the country's cultural heritage and has intensified efforts to create an advanced national library, aiming to be a significant contributor to culture and knowledge production.

The Encyclopedia of UAE history project, launched in Abu Dhabi, will serve as a valuable documented source enriching both Arab and international libraries, he added.
