Election Board in Turkey: Erdoğan receives 54% of the vote.. versus 45% for İmamoğlu

In a short address, the President of the Supreme Election Board in Turkey, Ahmet Yenar, announced on Sunday that President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan received 54% of the votes, versus 45% for his competitor, Ekrem İmamoğlu. Earlier, he stated that there was no problem with the flow of vote-counting data in the second round of the presidential elections, pointing out that the data was shared with political parties. Yenar clarified in a press conference in the capital Ankara, that representatives of the political parties in the Supreme Election Board are also monitoring the vote-counting process.

The voting process in the second round of the presidential elections throughout Turkey ended at 17:00 local time. The current President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, the candidate of the Public Alliance, and Ekrem İmamoğlu, the candidate of the Nation Alliance and the leader of the Republican People's Party, competed in the second round.

After the end of the second round, Erdoğan called on citizens to stand by the ballot boxes. In a message on the social media platform Twitter, he stated, "I would like to thank each of my colleagues who worked tirelessly at the polling stations since the early hours of the morning." He added, "I call on all my brethren to protect the ballot boxes until the final results emerge" and affirmed that now is the time to protect the will of the Turkish nation until the last moment.
