TRA Launched ‘the Seventh Neighbor’ Initiative

TRA employees celebrated the Flag Day through a range of activities and events organized by TRA for this important national occasion. The celebration started with the ceremony of raising the national Flag, accompanied by the UAE National Anthem. H.E Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori, TRA Director General, has then delivered a speech focusing on the meaning and values of pride and dignity represented by the Flag Day. H.E Majed Al Mesmar, Deputy Director General for the Telecommunications Sector, has also given a speech highlighting the symbolic importance of the occasion for the country.

The ceremony, prevailed with pride and honor, included honoring a group of talented children of employees, whom have achieved outstanding results in secondary school, in addition to honoring TRA employees whom have completed their national service term. Additionally, all TRA employees have formed a huge human flag, and flags have been distributed on all Happiness Center visitors.

Moreover, ‘the Seventh Neighbor’ initiative has been launched, where TRA employees have distributed the national flag on their neighbors in their living areas, as well as the TRA’s neighboring buildings in Abu Dhabi and Dubai. This initiative received a great response by TRA employees who expressed their enthusiasm to contribute. The total number of distributed flags reached more than 500 flags, and the employees made sure to raise the flags together with their neighbors in their living areas in different Emirates. The initiative also included an outline of the story and history of the UAE flag, in Arabic, English and ‘Braille’ language for the blinds or the visually impaired.

On this occasion, H.E Hamad Obaid Al Mansoori said: “Our ceremony today is symbolically important as it confirms the values of pride, dignity and belonging to the land of our beloved country. It is also a sign of total loyalty, cohesion and interaction among the sons of the nation and its wise leaders. This occasion has a great national dimension as it comes in commemoration of H.H Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed assumption of reins of power in the UAE, where we have witnessed over the last ten years the entrench and enhancement of the founding fathers’ approach”.

“Today, we celebrate a journey full of accomplishments and innovations that have enabled our country to assume global positions in various fields and areas. Moreover, due to our leadership vision and our people’s efforts, we have set an example and an exceptional reference for others. Today, in the midst of our celebrations, we remember our brothers, who are defending the honor and dignity of the country in different locations throughout the UAE”. H.E. added.

The Flag Day celebration in its third anniversary comes in line with the call of H.H Sheikh Mohammad bin Rashid Al Maktoum, UAE Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, on 3 November 2013.
