49 Korean companies to participate in WETEX 2024

49 Korean companies will participate in the 26th Water, Energy, Technology, and Environment Exhibition (WETEX), organised by Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA). The event will take place from 1st to 3rd October at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

This year’s participation marks a significant increase in Korean companies compared to last year, with companies set to showcase the latest technologies and innovative solutions in clean and renewable energy, energy efficiency, water management, sustainability, and related sectors.

Saeed Mohammed Al Tayer, MD & CEO of DEWA, Founder and Chairman of WETEX, said, “The UAE and the Republic of Korea share strong economic and investment ties. Last year, non-oil foreign trade between the two nations reached approximately US$5.3 billion. The UAE was Korea's second-largest trading partner in the Arab world and 14th globally in 2023, accounting for 20% of Korea’s trade with Arab countries. Korea’s direct investments in the UAE are nearing US$2.2 billion.

The substantial increase in Korean companies participating in WETEX this year underscores the event's significance as a leading global platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies, innovative solutions, and best practices in the water, energy, and environment sectors. WETEX offers vast opportunities to enhance cooperation and explore new partnerships that contribute to our shared goals for sustainable development.”

Al Tayer emphasised that WETEX is one of the most important global events for companies in the energy, water, and environment sectors. It provides an ideal platform to present advanced technologies and innovative solutions to an international audience of investors and decision-makers.

Yoo Jehseung, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the UAE, said, "WETEX is a valuable platform for engaging with UAE buyers and exploring new business opportunities. This event is an excellent opportunity to build new partnerships and work towards our shared goals of sustainable development and innovation. We are committed to enhancing cooperation with the UAE in the water, energy, and environment sectors, contributing to sustainable growth and mutual economic interests."

Korean companies, spread across three pavilions at WETEX 2024, will showcase the latest technologies in renewable energy, including solar and wind power generation systems, energy storage solutions, and innovations that enhance energy efficiency and reduce emissions.

They will also present smart technologies for the water sector, such as ultrasonic water flow meters, water desalination and purification equipment, reverse osmosis wastewater treatment systems, turbo compressors, solar-powered desalination plants, and AI-powered solutions for detecting water leaks.
