China to continue to inject impetus, stability into global economy: Premier

Addressing the opening ceremony of the China Development Forum on Sunday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang delivered a keynote speech affirming that China will persist in providing momentum and stability to spur global economic recovery, defying the instability and unpredictability plaguing the world, as reported by China Central Television.

Li said the resilience, potential and strong vitality of the world's second-largest economy remains unchanged.

"Despite external pressure and internal difficulties, we successfully accomplished the main targets and tasks of economic and social development (last year)," Li said.

Economic recovery continued to strengthen, and new industries, new models and new drivers of growth developed at a much faster pace, he added.

The premier also reaffirmed the government's confidence in the market.

"Particularly since last year, ministries and governments at various levels have further improved and optimised our services, established a regular communication and exchange mechanism with enterprises to learn about their concerns, and actively built a system and mechanism that better combines an efficient market and a well-functioning government," he said.

The China Development Forum 2024 is scheduled for 24th and 25th March, with a theme of “The Continuous Development of China.” The annual event brings together representatives of major global companies, international organisations and renowned researchers to discuss key economic issues and collaboration.
