Head of Dagestan praises UAE's initiatives to promote values ​​of tolerance, coexistence

Sergey Alimovich Melikov, the Head of the Republic of Dagestan of the Russian Federation, has praised the UAE's initiatives in promoting the values ​​of tolerance, coexistence and human fraternity among peoples.

He made the remarks when he received in Makhachkala the delegation of the Mohamed Bin Zayed University for Humanities (MBZUH), who visited Dagestan, headed by Khalifa Mubarak Al Dhaheri, Chancellor of the University.

The meeting discussed exchanging expertise in areas of common interest and strengthening cooperation in education, culture, tourism, economy, environment, agriculture, health, and other development fields. It also involved signing a cooperation agreement between the MBZUH and Dagestan State Pedagogical University.

Melikov said that the UAE's efforts contribute to strengthening international peace and security, achieving stability and enhancing bridges of human communication between peoples.

He also praised the efforts of the MBZUH in the field of disseminating knowledge and adopting the moderation approach through its scientific programmes and academic curricula.

Dr. Al Dhaheri said that the university delegation’s visit to the Republic of Dagestan achieved many positive results that would enhance the future of scientific and cultural relations between the MBZUH and the academic institutions in Dagestan.

The visit reflects the university's interest in building connections with other cultures and sharing the UAE's experience in humanitarian, development, and cultural fields to promote global peace, coexistence, and human fraternity.

The delegation also visited the historic city of Derbent, which is the cultural centre of the Republic of Dagestan and one of the oldest civilisations in the world.
