Hamdan bin Zayed receives NLA delegation

H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in Al Dhafra Region, received a delegation from the National Library and Archives (NLA), led by Abdullah Majid Al Ali, Director-General of the NLA.

During the meeting, Sheikh Hamdan was briefed about NLA’s strategic plan for 2022 to 2025, which aims to maintain the progress and innovation that lead to outstanding outcomes in different areas and serve the people.

It also highlighted the ongoing work to prepare the national library, which will preserve the UAE’s cultural and intellectual legacy, to make it a world-class library in terms of appearance and substance.

Sheikh Hamdan also learnt about the major improvements and innovative methods that enable the NLA to protect the UAE’s government records and historical documents, as well as launch initiatives that aim to make documents accessible for policy-makers and researchers.

He was then briefed about the Arab Gulf Digital Archive project (AGDA), launched in collaboration with the UK’s National Archives.

AGDA has become an accredited electronic gateway for students, academics and researchers studying the history of the UAE, providing access to original historical documents available on the internet that are used for research and studies.

Sheikh Hamdan, who listened to the presentation by Al Ali on the progress of the Al Dhafra Cultural District development project, lauded the NLA for its rich collection of books, visual materials, historical documents and valuable information.

He then commended the efforts of all officials and personnel involved in preserving this cultural and historical legacy for the region and humanity.

The NLA delegation presented a rare commemorative photo to Sheikh Hamdan of the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.

The meeting was attended by Ahmed Matar Al Dhaheri, Director of the Office of the Ruler’s Representative in Al Dhafra Region, and Issa Hamad Boushahab, Advisor to the Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent (ERC).
