Georgia government delegation gains insights from UAE modernisation prowess

An official Georgian delegation, including Alexander Khvtisiashvili, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Irakli Nadareishvili, Deputy Minister of Economy and Sustainable Development, visited the UAE. The delegation aimed to learn about the UAE government's best practices, innovations, and digital solutions supporting its development initiatives.

The Georgian government delegation engaged in discussions with Abdulla Nasser Lootah, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Competitiveness and Knowledge Exchange. They explored avenues to broaden bilateral cooperation in government development and modernisation, reaching an agreement to extend collaboration to include coding and government performance.

During a series of meetings, the delegation gained valuable insights into the UAE government's exemplary practices in innovation and government service. These sessions included discussions with Huda AlHashimi, Deputy Minister of Cabinet Affairs for Strategic Affairs, and Mohamed bin Taliah, Chief of Government Services of the UAE Government.

Lootah emphasised that sharing the experiences and expertise of the UAE government in government modernisation is a fundamental focus of the wise leadership's directives and visions. This is based on the importance of strengthening and expanding areas of international cooperation to advance governments, with a positive impact on customers and societies in general.

He stated that the collaboration with the Georgian government embodies a pioneering model for exchanging knowledge, experiences, and best practices to advance government operations. This collaboration aims to solidify the future government model, which is grounded in innovation, sustainable development, and the utilisation of advanced technological solutions in the comprehensive development of government frameworks and methodologies.

He highlighted the commitment of both governments to intensify efforts and broaden areas of cooperation, ultimately seeking to enhance the quality of life for their respective communities.

Khvtisiashvili stated that Georgia and the UAE maintain strong cooperative relations across various domains, including political, economic, and cultural ties, alongside the notable relationship between their peoples. He expressed gratitude for organising this visit under the Government Experience Exchange Programme.

The Georgian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs commented, "As our bilateral relations embark on a new phase following the memorandum of understanding signed between the two governments, we anticipate gaining insights into the innovative and advanced methodologies employed by the UAE government. Additionally, we look forward to exchanging experiences in government service, digital transformation, and innovation."

The Georgian government delegation was introduced to the UAE's pioneering models of government work during a series of meetings with officials and specialised government teams. Throughout these engagements, the delegation explored the UAE government's expertise in establishing a comprehensive system for monitoring and evaluating government performance.

During their visit to the Telecommunications and Digital Government Regulatory Authority (TDRA), the delegation was familiarised with the UAE government's experience in digitally transforming services and incorporating technology to enhance their comprehensiveness and flexibility, aligning with the demands of the digital age and customer aspirations.

In a meeting with the Office of Artificial Intelligence, Digital Economy, and Remote Work Applications team, the delegation discussed knowledge exchange mechanisms in artificial intelligence and robotics.

During their visit to the Dubai Smart Police Station (SPS), the government delegation received an overview of the integrated, interactive, self-service station.

The delegation also had a tour of Al Barsha Customer Happiness Centre, which is affiliated with the Federal Authority for Identity, Citizenship, Customs, and Ports Security. During this visit, discussions revolved around the centre's and the authority's experience delivering ID card services.

At the Dubai Digital Authority headquarters, the delegation gained insights into the authority's efforts to accelerate digital transformation through strategic partnerships between the government and private sectors.

The cooperation aims to enhance government capabilities in Georgia by providing access to the latest future tools, fostering the development of human resources, and empowering them in various areas of government work.

The bilateral cooperation between the two governments covers several key areas, including government services, smart services, capacity building, future foresight, government innovation, and artificial intelligence. During the visit of the Georgian government delegation, two additional areas of cooperation were introduced: coding and government performance.
